  1. This battery grip is fantastic, easy to use and very well made. I got it on Christmas, charged both batteries and 2 months, 800 pictures, countless flash uses later and the batteries are still on full. I haven’t had to charge the batteries in 2 months, is that crazy or what…I love this.

  2. the value far displaces its price. i still can not believe what i paid. it’s light and has all the attributes of a three times priced item.

    i am ecstatic.

  3. It basically performs as expected. It works. I had no problem with the wheel. But within the first hours of use I apparently bumped into something and the shutter release button broke, then came completely off. Fortunately there is enough of the stem left that it still works, but it’s uncomfortable. Wish I’d spent a little more and got a better one. But I wouldn’t have one at all if not for these alternatives to the expensive ‘official’ model.

  4. This is well constructed, fits perfectly, nice feel, and a great price to boot. Includes a AA adapter if needed in a bind. If I were to guess – it looks like it comes from the same factory that makes the OEM Canon, except without the Canon name in it.

I just got this grip and so far i have no complainant with it. I got because i have other cannons with the vertical shooting grip on them and for what i do i find it to be very handy. the extra battery will be nice to, but that is a free bonus for me.

this grip also makes holding the Xsi a little bit easier for me, it gives you an extra finger of space when holding the camera with the normal grip, i can get a much better grip on the camera grip with the vertical one installed. ( i don’t have the smallest of hands)

I bought this grip over the others:

    1. it was a lot cheaper then the cannon one and i though i would give it a try, so far, very happy.

    2. I did not buy the other off brand one the opetkia (sorry for the spelling) because it was shipped only by 17st street inc. out of new york. I have herd to many bad things about them! (alsowas able to get this one from amazon not the cheapist price for this unit, but it is sold by and shipped by amazon and they have a great return program, not that it seems i will be returning it.)

    3. I was able to get it shipped overnight for just 3.99 with amazon and some promotion they have going on right now.

Everything seems to be in order right out of the box. Hooked it up to the camera, put my battery in the holder (just one battery, it can hold 2) slid it in the grip and i was off and running with no problems. Their is a spot for the battery door that you have to take off your camera. (so if you remove your grip you don’t have to look around your camera bag for the little door that is required to make your camera work. the Xsi will not turn on with the door missing their is a small switch)

I have had no problem working with one battery or two, it seems to be ok, some reviews said that with one battery you have problems with the flash, i have not seen this problem.

Some reviews of the off brands say that the trigger button is a little sloppy, it is softer then the on the camera button, but their is still a very distinctive difference between the focus and the shoot, on mine. (it is the same as the cannon vertical grip i have for my film A2 that one is a little soft too and it is cannon brand)

Read the directions if you can find the English part: it is important to install the grip before inserting the battery pack, like wise you must remove the battery pack before taking the grip off. you do not want to short out you $$ camera now would you.

all the functions and buttons work correctly and it seems to be built well and i dont see why it will not hold up to daily use.

i would have no problem buying this brand or this model with out hesitation, if i needed another.

Becareful who you buy from its not always amazon, their are a lot of shady companies who will give you a great price and sell you a peice of junk (referbed or Quality control rejected item) and not stand behind it when you have a problem.

I hope this helps you decided what grip to get for your Xsi (or D450 their the same camera, Xsi is a USA name for the D450)
