My Canon EOS Rebel is taking black pictures. Anyone have this problem and know how to remedy it?

    It could be several different things.

    It could be you changed your settings and are severely under-exposing your pictures. To check for this, set the camera to Green Box mode, and take a photo of something. Try it with flash too.

    Or your shutter could be screwed up. To check for this, set the camera to M mode, and set the shutter speed to over 2 or 3 seconds (2″ or 3″ in the display). Take off the lens, and look into the camera. Press the shutter release, and see if the shutter fully opens revealing the shiny sensor (mirror will flip up at the same time the shutter opens). If it doesn’t open, you have a problem. Send it to Canon for service.
